Artist Statement

I have always been influenced by nature and pained at how nature suffers due to environmental degradation caused by us humans. I have been working on this subject for more than 15 years and my concern has been raised on the deteriorating conditions of land, water and air caused by environmental pollution due to urbanization and rapid development.
From the beginning of human existence, landscapes have always been shaping. As we have progressed from different periods, we are still dependent on these sustainable elements; however, with the rise in population, we have rapidly urbanized. We are the current denizen of planet earth and are knowingly or unknowingly progressing towards unsustainable evolution. We have contemporary priority and disregard our deficiencies which will shortly become perilous for human existence. Our selfish actions are pushing our future generation to extinction.
My works venture into the everyday life of the urban-rural community life of Indian villagers transforming rapidly into a neo-urban lifestyle greatly influenced by the rapidly changing lifestyles in urban India. We are highly influenced by the technological developments in contemporary India. My works in the Indian rural community is the way I encourage my thoughts and concepts to influence my visual language in order to probe deeper into the areas of life across the communities, particularly the way new Indian rural communities are evolving today keeping up with the rapid development. My artworks evolve from the history of the Indian nation as it progresses from a national developmental model of statehood to a more global and liberal democratic state, with my deep concern over the rapid development against the backdrop of the lost innocence of the rural folks and their dying culture.
My work also addresses the burgeoning ecological asymmetry which the present generation is undergoing. This is culminated due to abuse of power, human greed and materialistic aspirations. I have tried to illustrate the human exploitation of macrocosm, the agony and the flora and fauna. I have conveyed my apprehension related to ecology and environmental catastrophe through my work. I am passionate about nature, and the continuous changes in the landscapes of India have compelled me to take the concerns of environment and ecology to be my subject of creativity. I tried to create aesthetics in my work.
